Just when you’ve put so much effort into your pretty makeup look, it seems like there is nothing left of it in just a few hours. Luckily, a good prep is half the job counts for this too. With these tips and the right tools you’ll be sure to enjoy your makeup all day from now on.
1. MAKE SURE YOUR FACE IS CLEAN
See your skin as the canvas of an artist. When it’s properly clean, the colours will stand out even more. Therefore cleansing your skin is an important step, even when you just got out of bed. During the night bacterias from the air and even your pillow case will stick onto your face. If you have an oily skin type, you want to wash your face to remove excess sebum as well. Usually water or our Vegan Wipes will do the job just fine, but if you have oily skin or suffer from impurities we suggest using a cleansing gel for example.
2. USE A PRIMER
Let’s stay in paint-mode for a little longer. Whenever you’d like to add some colours to your wall, you’ll find yourself in a construction shop looking for primer. This step can be compared to the primers we see in the cosmetics market. They make sure - just like using it on your walls - that the surface (your skin in this case) is even, colours will last longer and stay pretty as long as possible. A primer really is the base of your makeup. That being said, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to wear foundation: it will smooth out your skin anyway. 3. DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE EYES
Eyelids tend to be more oily than the rest of your skin. That’s also the reason your beautiful smokey eye look won’t last until the end of the party. To make sure your eyeshadow stays put, special eye primers were introduced. They have the same function as normal primers, but are specifically targeted to the delicate eye area and have smaller applicators. 4. CHOOSE BRUSHES
No matter how much you might enjoy using your fingers when applying makeup, it’s also a reason for makeup to fade quicker. The reason for this is that the oils on your hands will mix with your makeup when you apply it onto your face. The more oil, the faster your makeup will disappear. Make sure to use a good brush or blender, at least when applying foundation and tinted moisturizers.
5. WORK IN LAYERS
If you already know that your makeup will fade easily, it’s even more tempting to put on an extra thick layer. Unfortunately this works the other way around. Whether you are applying foundation or eyeshadow: thin layers work best. Apply the first thin layer and wait for a few minutes before you apply another. When talking lipstick, the old school blotting technique still works: blot your lips with a tissue when you’ve applied your first layer before adding another.
6. USE A POWDER
Generally speaking, powder make-up lasts longer than liquid formulas. No worries if you - especially when it comes to foundation - prefer fluids. Nowadays, the market offers a lot of so-called loose powders, which can be applied on the T-zone or full face after you’ve done your makeup routine. These powders will not only keep you shine-free during the day, they will also make your makeup last longer. Because of their transparent colour, they are easy to use on lids and lips as well. 
7. FINISH OFF WITH A FIXING SPRAY
A fixing spray is literally the finishing touch of your look. Not only is it a very pleasant refreshment and does fixates your makeup, it can also - when containing the right ingredients - keep your makeup from feeling dry during the day.
